Bereavement Policy

Purpose: Guide outlining a bereavement policy and providing a template for barristers and pupils

This document includes some basic information as well as a bereavement policy template for barristers and pupils.

It includes a list of practical resources and links to more information (Annex A). We also recommend you view our resources on dealing with bereavement on the Wellbeing at the Bar website.

Please note: There is no legal or regulatory requirement to have a bereavement policy for self-employed barristers and pupils, but we recommend chambers has a policy to ensure the compassionate treatment of any barrister or pupil facing a bereavement.
